My research investigates the chemical, physical, mechanical, and durability properties of infrastructure materials. A primary focus is on characterizing and developing innovative, but practical, cement-based and alternative materials for a future sustainable infrastructure that reduces the global footprint of the construction materials industry.

My research focuses on improving prediction of hydrologic and contaminant fluxes for better management of water resources using combination of field, laboratory, and modeling approaches.

The objective of the master's degree program is to prepare a student for research and development careers in biomedical industry and further research at the doctorate level. Students completing their MS degrees will graduate with a high level of competence in:
- The application and characterization of various forms of biomaterials
- The acquisition and processing of medical signals and images
- The computation and simulation of phenomena in biomechanical systems
- Transferring their understanding of biomaterials, biomechanics, and signal processing to the creation of new applications
- The application of biomedical transport phenomena
