Vegas oddsmakers project more close games Sunday
It’s been a season full of close games this year, as the NFL has seen more games decided by a touchdown or less through nine weeks than at any other time in its history.
That is reflected in this week’s point spread totals, as six of the 11 games today have current point spread totals of 3.5 points or less (per BetMGM).
The only outliers in that group are Minnesota at Buffalo (-6), Jacksonville at Kansas City (-9.5), Houston at NY Giants (-4.5), Indianapolis at Las Vegas (-4.5), and LA Chargers at San Francisco (-7.5). The close score expectation is also reflected there, as only one of those games has a point spread of higher than one possession. That number is two if the Monday Night Football matchup of Washington at Philadelphia (-11) is included, but it still shows that the sharps are looking for another weekend of close matchups.

Seahawks' loss snaps four-game win streak
And that will do it. The Seahawks’ four-game win streak is over, as they proved unable to climb out of a 21-3 hole in Munich.
Seattle falls to 6-4, and the 49ers (4-4) could pull within a half-game of the NFC West lead with a win over the Chargers tonight.
Pregame Giants thoughts ahead of matchup with Texans
- There's some real concern about the impact of Xavier McKinney's absence within the organization. He doesn't have as many splash plays as last year, but he's been important in limiting big plays. Rookie Dane Belton in that role is an unknown
- Good news is that the Texans' passing game is pedestrian, but Mills has 28 completions of 20-plus yards, which is tied for seventh-most. (Daniel Jones has 9).
- All about the run D today. Expect Jaylon Smith to be the top ILB again with Micah McFadden ahead of Tae Crowder.
- Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Williams should feast on this interior O-line.
- Interested to see what the offensive coaches come up with out of the bye against a vanilla Houston D. Guessing we'll see some wrinkles, but this should be a Saquon 150-yard-plus rushing day.
- Think this will be a revealing game as the second half starts. Giants are expected to win against a weak opponent, but they're down some key players (McKinney, Bellinger, Neal, Bredeson). Some uneasiness will set in with a loss, but I expect them to grind out a W.
Giants host the Texans at 1 p.m. ET.
Seahawks struggling to stop run, Bucs on verge of salting game away
Through the first five weeks of the season, the Seahawks’ run defense was disastrous. The group improved significantly during Seattle’s four-game win streak, but today, the Bucs’ struggling run game has controlled the game.
Tampa Bay is up to 145 yards rushing and is on the verge of killing the clock without giving Seattle’s offense another chance.

Geno Smith stepping up in fourth quarter
Seahawks QB Geno Smith in the fourth quarter so far today vs. Bucs: 8-of-11 for 108 yards and 2 TDs.

Seahawks find end zone on fourth-and-1 Geno Smith TD pass
The Seahawks will not go away. After Ken Walker was stuffed on third-and-1, Geno Smith rolled left on fourth-and-1 and fired for Marquise Goodwin, who made a phenomenal diving catch in the end zone for a 19-yard touchdown.
It was Seattle’s second fourth-down conversion on the drive, taking advantage of Tom Brady’s interception.
Seattle trails 21-16 with 3:58 to play and all three timeouts.
Tom Brady throws first INT since Week 1, snaps second-longest streak without INT in NFL history
Tom Brady is picked off by Seahawks LB Cody Barton, Brady's first interception since Week 1 against the Cowboys.
The pick ends a streak of 399 consecutive passes without an interception by Brady, the second-longest streak in NFL history.
Aaron Rodgers holds the all-time mark of 402 set in 2018.
Seahawks pick off Tom Brady, set up in Bucs' territory
Tom Brady had a potential interception dropped over the middle by Jordyn Brooks earlier.
This time, Cody Barton hangs on, leaping to grab a pass that was intended for Mike Evans, and the Seahawks are in Bucs territory with more than six minutes to play, down 21-9.
Will Falcons bench Marcus Mariota? Arthur Smith finds ‘7 different ways’ not to answer
The 24-Hour Rule starts this week with Atlanta’s quarterback question, which remains exactly as unanswered as it was immediately after the Falcons fell 25-15 to the Carolina Panthers on “Thursday Night Football.”
Starting quarterback Marcus Mariota finished the game 19-for-30 passing for 186 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and was reckless enough with the ball that the Panthers easily could have had four interceptions, but Falcons coach Arthur Smith sidestepped the question of whether Mariota will remain the starting quarterback when he met with the media Friday.
“Here’s why I think those questions sometimes are comical,” Smith said. “I understand why you have to ask them. It’s an important position, but our feeling about every position is we are objective. We have done the same thing all year. We evaluate everything week to week. There will always be competition, and it’s our job to make sure we are doing the right thing for the team whether it’s at left guard, kicker, punter, safety, corner, the L5 on kickoff, right guard on punt. We are going to look at everything every week and try to keep the competition going.”

Bucs RB Leonard Fournette (hip) doubtful to return
Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette has left the game with a hip injury and is doubtful to return.
Tough news for Tampa Bay as Fournette had run for 57 yards and a touchdown today.
Seahawks not dead yet
Seattle isn't going away just yet -- Geno Smith goes 5-for-5 for 75 yards with a 21-yard score to Tyler Lockett, and that cuts the Bucs' lead to 21-9 with 8:20 left.
Seattle went for two and didn't convert. Smith is now 20-for-27 for 239 yards.
Seahawks cut into Bucs' lead with Tyler Lockett TD grab
The Seahawks found something with Ken Walker as a receiver on that drive, and Geno Smith capped a five-play, 77-yard drive with a nice step up and throw to Tyler Lockett for a 21-yard touchdown.
But the two-point conversion attempt fails, and Seattle still trails by 12.
Lions inactives vs. Bears
As expected, Josh Reynolds will miss his second game in a row with a back injury. With DJ Chark still on IR, Amon-Ra St. Brown is the only healthy starting receiver. I’d imagine the Lions will try to get their tight ends more involved.
Another big loss is starting LB Malcolm Rodriguez. Detroit will need second-year LB Derrick Barnes to step up again after an excellent game last week vs. the Packers.
Lions inactives vs. Bears
- DL Michael Brockers
- DL Austin Bryant
- CB Chase Lucas
- S Ifeatu Melifonwu
- OL Matt Nelson
- WR Josh Reynolds
- LB Malcolm Rodriguez
Bucs owning third down on both sides of ball
Third down isn’t everything, but it sure has told the story today between the Seahawks and Buccaneers in Munich.

Bucs turn Geno Smith interception into points
After Geno Smith’s interception, the Bucs march 87 yards on 11 plays, their third touchdown drive of at least 86 yards today, and the Seahawks are in big trouble.
Tampa Bay has outgained Seattle 344-166 and leads 21-3 with 10:48 remaining.
Bucs cap 87-yard scoring drive on Tom Brady TD pass to Chris Godwin
Another crazy long touchdown drive for the Bucs -- 87 yards, and Tom Brady hits Chris Godwin for a touchdown and a 21-3 lead in the fourth quarter.
Bears inactives vs. Lions
Bears guard Teven Jenkins is the big one. He’s come into his own at right guard, but was limited in practice with a hip injury. Michael Schofield could be his replacement, or Alex Leatherwood, who is active.
Velus Jones and N'Keal Harry are healthy scratches, as the Bears got Byron Pringle back at wide receiver. Kindle Vildor was ruled out with an ankle injury. Jaylon Jones will take his spot. Look for more reps for Dominique Robinson and Kingsley Jonathan at defensive end in Al-Quadin Muhammad’s absence.
Bears inactives vs. Lions
- WR N’Keal Harry
- CB Kindle Vildor
- DE Al-Quadin Muhammad
- RG Teven Jenkins
- WR Velus Jones Jr.
- DB Harrison Hand
- OG Ja’Tyre Carter
