Batavia

- Two ferrets, priced at $250, were stolen from Petland, 401 N. Randall Road, between noon and 12:25 p.m. Sunday.

- An Aurora woman was taken to Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva after an accident at 2:06 p.m. Saturday on Randall Road south of Mill Street. Police said Ruben Mondragen, 24, of 80 Lyle Ave., Elgin, was heading north on Randall in a Toyota Camry before rear-ending a Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Daniel R. Gregalt, 27, of 394 Southhampton Drive, Geneva, who was stopped in traffic. The crash forced the Cobalt into a Lexus ES 300 in front of it. Driving the Lexus was Lawrence G. Carpio, 16, of 4210 Palmer Drive, Naperville, police said. Gregalt's passenger - Tara K. Estremera, 23, of 1509 Hoyt Ave., Aurora - was taken to the hospital with a neck injury, police said. Mondragen was ticketed on charges of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without a valid license, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 13.

- A Sugar Grove man, who formerly lived in Batavia, was taken to Delnor-Community Hospital after an accident at 7 p.m. July 27 on the 0-99 block of East Wilson Street. Police said it appeared that Joseph W. Bushnell, 21, whose last known address was 824 N. Forest Ave., Batavia, hit the brake on his motorcycle too hard, which caused it to flip. A witness pulled the motorcycle off Bushnell, police said. He was ticketed on charges of driving on an expired license and not having a license properly classified to operate a motorcycle, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 13.

- Anthony C. Marco, 23, of 908 S. Harrison St., Batavia, was arrested on several charges at 8:10 p.m. July 31 following an accident on Wenmoth Road at Main Street, according to police reports. Police said Marco was heading south on Wenmoth Road in a Mercury Sable before rear-ending a Toyota Sienna, driven by Randal J. King, 49, of 3S947 Thornapple Tree Road, Sugar Grove, who was stopped in traffic. Marco left the scene, but King had taken down his plate number, police said. Police later tracked Marco down and charged him with the following: leaving the scene of an accident; failure to give aid or information at the scene of an accident; failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident; driving on a revoked license; illegal transportation or possession of alcohol and disobeying a police officer, fireman or school crossing guard, reports said. Marco is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 6.

North Aurora

- Nina A. Swantek, 18, 1N719 Main St., Glen Ellyn, was arrested on several charges after a traffic stop at Oak Street and Cherrytree at 10:31 a.m. on Sunday, according to a police report. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal possession of alcohol by someone under 21, illegal consumption of alcohol by someone under 21 and following too closely, according to the report. She had a full bottle of beer in her car, according to the report.

- Three people reported that their cars were scratched while parked on the 100 block of East Victoria Circle. Two people said it happened between July 23 and 24, and one said it happened between Friday and Saturday.

St. Charles

- Meredith Ann Yoo Yuml, 19, of 413 E. Parkway Drive, Wheaton, was charged with retail theft Thursday night after leaving Von Maur, 3810 E. Main St., without paying for two pairs of jeans and four chocolate bars valued at $156, according to a police report.

- A woman reported her engagement ring and wedding band were stolen from X-Sport Fitness, 238 N. Randall Road, where she left them July 26 after showering, according to a police report. The rings are valued at $6,897.

- A 1989 Chevrolet Caprice's four tires were slashed while the car was parked at 2607 Royal St. George's Court Sunday. Damage is estimated at $350.

- A bicycle was reported stolen Friday outside 1590 E. Main St. It is valued at $100.

- A speaker box and 20 CDs were reported stolen Monday from an unlocked 1985 Pontiac Firebird parked on the 3000 block of Easton Place. The items are valued at $580.

- A 2005 Jeep Wrangler was reported stolen Monday from Richard Chrysler Jeep, 1845 E. Main St. It appears to have disappeared sometime since May 10, according to inventory records.

- A purse containing $300, a cell phone valued at $100, a checkbook, credit cards and other items was reported stolen Tuesday from a customer's shopping cart at Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road.

- A skateboard valued at $130 was reported stolen Tuesday from a back yard on the 1000 block of Sutton Place.

Kane County

- A St. Charles man was taken to Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb after an accident at 2 p.m. Sunday on McGough Road north of Lawrence Road, Burlington Township. Police said Barry H. Cowalt, 50, of 3704 Greenwood Lane, St. Charles, was heading south on McGough before losing control of his Yamaha F21 motorcycle. He also was ticketed on a charge of driving without proof of insurance and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 7, police said.

- Criminal damage to property was reported when two tires were punctured on two different cars - a black 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier and a white 2003 GMC Sierra pickup - between 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday on the 6N200 block of West Ridgewood Drive, St. Charles. The damage was estimated at $200.

- Bradley J. Barajas, 23, of 791 E. Benton St., Aurora, was arrested at 12:37 p.m. Monday on charges of fleeing and eluding police and careless operation of an all-terrain vehicle on Prairie and Orchard roads, Sugar Grove Township, according to police reports. Police said Barajas was riding a Honda Quadrunner south on Orchard. When police attempted to pull him over, Barajas accelerated west on the bike path, police said. The officer chased him for 400 feet before making the arrest, reports said. Barajas also was wanted on a warrant through the Aurora Police Department for a past charge of criminal damage to property, police said.

- Theft was reported after a purse, valued at $125, was stolen from a house between 5 p.m. Sunday and 2 p.m. Monday on the 0N600 block of Old Kirk Road, Geneva Township. The denim purse contained a license, a Social Security card, $55 cash, keys and a birth certificate.
